Visteon puts an iPad in a car.
When i first looked at and read this article, i thought it was a really cool idea. Being able to control seats, the radio, music, and other things all wirelessly from a simple to use touch device was a fantastic innovation. Then i thought about it. Then i thought about me driving with one in the car. Then i realized it was a horrible idea. I feel that implementing devices like these in a car would ultimately prove to be too much of a distraction, increasing the amount of car related injuries. What are your thoughts?
Well, I guess it is a nice feature... if it is the passenger using it. Drivers have enough distractions as it is, so this may just be what brings it over the top - unless we get totally autonomous cars which drive their passengers. In that case, this technology is welcome.
ReplyDeleteI also think this could be very dangerous for drivers. It would probably be just as bad as texting while driving because it would take drivers attention away from the road. Changing the radio station is already easy enough so I think there is no need to have the iPad do this too.
ReplyDeleteThis is a cool idea for passengers. I think its very similar to a GPS or entertainment feature which is in cars now. I dont think many cars will use this same idea, even though people are rapidly getting ipads.
